The Hub’s Battle is open to bands with members aged between 10 and 24 years
(Kids Clash: 10-14 years; Youth Battle: 15-24 years).

Battle of the Bands brings together our region’s young bands from diverse genres. All skills levels welcome!
Comprised of three heats, two semi-finals, a final and the combined ‘Creative Engineers Showcase’ event to announce the winners.
With limited places for each heat, bands pick their heat in order of preference. Once all details are submitted bands are selected on a first-come, first served basis.

eMERGENT SOUNDS DIVISION 2025
Competition entrants who are performing original work have the option to enter the eMergent Sounds Division to be in running to win the eMergent Sounds prize and have your song pressed to vinyl.
Here's how it works:
Submit and Perform
Enter the eMergent Sounds Division. Upload original songs and perform live during the Competition.
Judged' Playlist Picks
Judges will choose a shortlist to feature on an official eMergent Sounds online playlist.
Winners Chosen
Judges select one winner from each Competition - one from Discovered and one from Battle of the Bands. Awarded at the Creative Engineers Showcase.
Public Voting
After the Creative Engineers Showcase, the playlist goes live for public voting. Anyone can listen and vote for their favourite tracks.
Limited- Edition Vinyl Album Release
The eMergent Sounds first place recipients (Discovered and Battle of the Bands) and eight (8) top-voted songs will be pressed onto vinyl and released as a limited-edition album during Youth Week 2026.
The project has a commitment to nurturing artistic growth and fostering a community of aspiring musicians along with prize money and professional development.
The ‘Play it Forward School Prize’ allows the competition and its competitors to show support to their nominated school with a cash prize to benefit students of the Music/CAPA Faculty for the Battle’s overall winning band, to continue to foster a vibrant and supportive musical community.

The audience WILDCARD voting component is back this year and allows the audience to get involved and help select two (2) singers to perform in the Grand Final event.

24 participants will make it into the two semi-finals, live at The Hub Erina on 12 and 26 March 2021.Two semi-finalists will be voted in by our online audience in Round One of the Wildcard Audience Vote.
12 finalists will be selected to perform at The Hub Erina on Friday 23 April 2021 in the Discovered Grand Final. Two finalists will be voted in by our online audience in Round Two of the Wildcard Audience Vote.
All semi-final and grand-final events will be live streamed. Register HERE to become a member of our online audience!
